From river clay to finished piece - every Indus Terracotta piece passes through four hands-on stages in our Tirupur workshop.

01 - Shaping. Natural clay is wedged by hand and rolled, then each bead and pendant is shaped without moulds.

02 - Sun drying. Pieces rest in shade for two days, then full sun, so they dry evenly and do not crack in the kiln.

03 - Firing. Kiln-baked at high heat for 8 hours. This is what makes terracotta hard, light and permanent.

04 - Hand painting. Non-toxic acrylic and metallic paint, kemp stones set one at a time. No two pieces are identical.

Because every piece is handmade, small variations in shade and brushwork are part of the craft - proof it was made by a person, not a machine.
