A temple set, made light
Thamarai means lotus. The pendant is shaped as one, worked by hand after the beads are rolled and before anything is dried.
A shaped pendant is the slowest element to make and the most likely to be lost in firing, so these come out in small numbers. Red is mixed into the clay; gold detail goes on afterwards by hand. Terracotta jewellery throughout — clay, colour and paint, with no stones.
Wears well with: plain silk in cream, gold and maroon, where the pendant can be the focus.
Care: the pendant sits proud. Store wrapped on its own. Dry cloth, no water.
- Necklace and matching earrings included
- Hand-painted gold detail
- Adjustable cotton dori, fits 14″–26″
- Comes in a cotton pouch and gift box
Looking after terracotta
Wipe gently with a soft dry cloth after wearing. Keep away from water, perfume and hairspray. Store each piece in its own pouch or box so painted surfaces do not rub. Terracotta is fired clay — it is sturdy in daily wear but will not survive a hard drop on stone floors.
Delivery and returns
Ready-to-ship pieces leave us within 2–4 days and arrive in 5–7 days across India. Made-to-order custom sets take about four weeks from confirmation. International orders add 7–14 days. Damaged-in-transit pieces are replaced free — send us an unboxing photo within 48 hours.
Six days, start to finish
Natural river clay is wedged by hand and shaped without moulds, sun-dried for two days, then kiln-fired at high heat for 8 hours. Non-toxic acrylic and metallic paints are applied by hand and kemp stones are set one at a time. No two pieces are identical.
