Blue is one of the harder colours to fire evenly, so runs are short and the next batch will differ slightly.
A temple set, made light
Nachiyar is a red and gold set on a full strand, named for the temple consort — which suits the weight of it. Fuller than our everyday reds without tipping into bridal.
The red is fired into the clay rather than painted on top, so it holds at the bead edges. Sun-dried two days, kiln-fired eight hours, then gold detail applied by hand and sealed matte. Terracotta jewellery throughout — clay, colour and paint, with no stones.
Wears well with: maroon, cream and gold silk at functions.
Care: wear it last, after perfume. Dry cloth only, never water. Store wrapped.
- Necklace and matching earrings included
- Hand-painted gold detail
- Adjustable cotton dori, fits 14″–26″
- Comes in a cotton pouch and gift box
Looking after terracotta
Wipe gently with a soft dry cloth after wearing. Keep away from water, perfume and hairspray. Store each piece in its own pouch or box so painted surfaces do not rub. Terracotta is fired clay — it is sturdy in daily wear but will not survive a hard drop on stone floors.
Delivery and returns

Six days, start to finish
Natural river clay is wedged by hand and shaped without moulds, sun-dried for two days, then kiln-fired at high heat for 8 hours. Non-toxic acrylic and metallic paints are applied by hand and kemp stones are set one at a time. No two pieces are identical.
